HTC 7 Trophy

It seems to be like a competition among the mobile phone manufacturers to announce handsets that will run on the latest and the much- talked about Windows Phone 7 operating system. Just like LG and Samsung, HTC has announced three new handsets that will get the power of the new operating system. Among the three handsets announced by HTC, which are HTC 7 Surround, HTC HD7 and the HTC Trophy, the later one is the most affordable. However, the Trophy is not the smallest of the other WP7 phones announced by HTC as it comes with some excellent set of features.

It's highlight is the smooth touch screen display with the touch sensitive keys and a 5MP camera with LED flash. The camera size on the back is smaller and doesn’t have that brushed aluminium look like Optimus 7, which may not make it appear fancy to many users. In terms of appearance, it is thin and fits easily into the pocket. The measurement and the weight of the phone is yet not disclosed in the specifications released by the LG. The prominent features of HTC Trophy include 3G, Wi Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, and much more. We will discuss more on the features in the following paras of the review.

HTC Trophy – the Network and Connectivity

One of the most vital features for any mobile phone is the network Without proper network coverage as this is the basic purpose of a mobile phone to establish communication. The HTC Trophy assures to provide good network coverage as it comes loaded with the supportive features of both 2G and 3G. The users of the 2G network will get access to the quad band GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900; while the 3G users can access dual band HSDPA 900/ 2100. Another essential feature that goes hand- in- hand with network is connectivity. The handset offers general connectivity features such as Class 10 GPRS and EDGE. Both these features can provide data access at the speed of 32 – 48 kbps and 236.8 kbps respectively. This much speed is definitely not enough to access the high-end internet-based applications and hence the LG Trophy also loads high speed connectivity features in the form of Wi-Fi® 802.11 b/g/n and HSDPA.

Transferring data from/to other compatible devices has become a common norm for the mobile phone users in the present times. Many people exchange various files with other users in the form of images, music, videos, etc. If you want to access such data transfers then you can use microUSB v2.0 (cable-based) or Bluetooth® v2.1 (wireless) data transfers.

HTC Trophy Review – the Display

The look plays a key part, which affects the purchase decision of many buyers. The first thing that the buyers probably look out is the appearance of the device and then they get into the features and the specifications. In terms of looks, HTC Trophy is quite decent and definitely very attractive. The biggest highlight of the display is its screen, which is quite large (3.8 inches). The display screen is a Super LCD capacitive touch screen and it provides a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels along with 16 million colours. In addition to that, there are other prominent features of the display such as multi touch input method, proximity sensor for auto turn off, and accelerometer sensor for UI auto rotate.

The major portions of the frontal part are covered with the high-end touch screen display of the mobile phone. At the bottom of the display screen, there are touch sensitive buttons to navigate the vital features of the handset. On top of the display screen and on the back, the logo of HTC can be noticed.

HTC Trophy – the Memory

This is definitely one of the biggest features for any mobile phone, especially the smart phones. Without proper storage capacity, the features and the applications of the handsets cannot be used properly. There is actually no point in providing high end features if their memory support is not appropriate. HTC Trophy provides good internal memory with 8GB storage including 576 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. However, the major issue seems the exclusion of microSD™ card slot. This means the users cannot increase the memory any further, which could be a drawback as many new phones now offer 32GB storage capacity.

HTC Trophy – the Camera

This is easily one of the most popular features of a mobile phone as far as the multimedia features are concerned. Many people check out the camera features and then take a decision to buy a handset. The combination of a camera in a HTC Trophy comes in handy as the users can click the moments on the move. The Trophy offers attractive camera features as it includes a 5 mega pixel camera that provides a resolution of 2560?1920 pixels. The chief features of the camera include LED flash, auto focus, face detection and geo tagging. The camera is capable of taking video shots at 720 P, which is impressive, while there is no secondary camera.

HTC Trophy Review – Music and video

The other prominent multimedia features of the Trophy include the music player and video playback. The music player and the video player are capable of playing diverse media files such as MP3/ WAV/ WMA/ eAAC+ and MP4/ WMV/ H.264/ H.263 respectively.

HTC Trophy – Social Media

HTC Trophy is a competent mobile phone that is probably targeting the young generation. It is evident from the fact that the device includes social media features such as integrated applications of Twitter™ and Facebook™. Moreover, YouTube™ can also be accessed from the handset.
